What We Do And Who We Are
The Saint Ambrose Parents’ Association’s was formed in 1947, one year after the College opened and our sole aim is to raise funds for Saint Ambrose College and Saint Ambrose Preparatory School. All the funds we raise go directly to support the boys in the furthering of their academic, spiritual and physical education. We raise funds through a number of different channels – donations, lotteries and a calendar of events. For more information about our activities, please visit our fundraising page.
The funds we raise are distributed to the College and the Prep School regularly throughout the year enabling the Principal and Headmaster to enrich the lives of the boys with facilities they would not otherwise enjoy.
Through the generosity of the ‘Saint Ambrose Family’ we have been able to raise over a million pounds in the years that SAPA has existed and it is only with the strong support of the parents, carers, faculty and boys that we have been able to accomplish this amazing feat. So our grateful thanks go out to all those involved with SAPA – it is only because of you that the tradition continues and every year the boys enjoy a school life enhanced with better facilities and more opportunities.
We would like to say a big “Thank You” to all the committee members past and present who have supported SAPA during its many years. The great thing about SAPA is that many of our helpers stay with us as their family passes through both schools so there are always familiar faces at functions. Sometimes we see helpers return as their grandchildren take their place in school. So far we believe the longest serving SAPA member was Samantha Hall who left the committee in 2016 after an amazing 18 years of service. Many previous committee members can be found still attending meetings and helping at events even when they have no boys left in school. Retiring committee members are made honorary members of the committee and are always welcome to attend meetings and functions whenever they wish. Honorary Vice Presidents are Mike Hetherington, Margaret Kerr (College Governor), Mike Foley and Giovanna Centeleghe (dec’d).

The following are the minutes of the monthly meetings and AGMs held by SAPA.
The money raised over the years has enabled the purchase of many items, from musical instruments to minibuses. Our more recent purchases included flooring for the College gym so that it can be used for exams and functions, cricket nets for the College, play equipment for the Prep playgrounds and sufficient funds to build the new swimming pool in the College.
